April Wrap Up

051344-FC50

It’s been an insane month for me, I’ve moved house and started a new job (aaargghh!). Between unpacking boxes, doing DIY and reading my lovely new department’s list of books I’ve barely had the time to read anything of my own. Or blog, for that matter (sorry about that!).

But things will hopefully start settling down this month and I can resume the worryingly fast rate that I get through books. I will limit my TBR again next month, as I still have a lot of work books to read but will definitely try to get through all my challenge reads at the very least.

Books Read:

Chuck Palahuik – Damned
C.L.Taylor – The Accident
Neil Gaiman – Ocean at the End of the Lane
Scott Mariani – The Nemesis Program
George Orwell – Animal Farm

Total pages read: 1418

Total pages read this year: 11204

Quick Overviews:

Chuck Palahuik – Damned

I don’t think I have ever been so bitterly disappointed at a book before. I’m ashamed to say that I picked this book for a book club read – what was I thinking?!

C.L.Taylor – The Accident

Great psychological thriller about a mother that must face her past to save her daughters life. A quick read that was gripping and exciting.

Neil Gaiman – Ocean at the End of the Lane

The Ocean at the End of the Lane is quite easily the best book I’ve read this year. Actually, scrap that. It’s the best book I’ve read since I started this blog. Gaiman made me feel like a child again, delving into a fantastical world for the first time and being completely swept away by it all.

Scott Mariani – The Nemesis Program

Ben Hope is back. This is a great conspiracy theory novel that had me on the edge of my seat from the get go. Dan Brown, but better.

George Orwell – Animal Farm

This is the second Orwell book I’ve read this year and he is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Even though 1984 is the clear favourite for me, Animal farm is exceptionally good and extremely thought-provoking.
